No. Back in the early days of importing, a lot of the mainstream insurance companies charged a premium for insuring an import. This was mainly due to the fact that they hadn’t bothered to do their homework properly!

Once they realised that there is actually no difference between a UK MX-5 and an Import MX-5 (from an insurance point of view) they were more than happy to take on the extra business.
