What is the SVA Test?
MX5 City

In order for any imported used car to be legally used on British roads, it must undergo a Government SVA (Single Vehicle Approval) test and inspection to ensure that it complies with British Type-Approval regulations.

The test is controlled by VOSA employed inspectors and is far more stringent than a normal MOT test. Every aspect of the car’s roadworthyness is checked very thoroughly, with particular attention to braking performance (the brake test alone takes longer than an MOT test), noise and fuel emissions, etc.
