  • Check engine oil level for correct level and dipstick oil sample is free from contamination
  • Check coolant for correct level and that coolant is free from visual contamination
  • Check screen wash to correct level
  • Check engine compartment for visual evidence of all fluid/fuel leakage
  • Check brake/clutch fluid level to manufacturer’s specification
  • Check power steering fluid level to manufacturer’s specification
  • Check condition/adjustment of visible drive belts
  • Check condition of engine compartment pipes and hoses
  • Check condition of engine mountings
  • Check battery is secure and starts engine with ease
  • Check vehicle charging system
  • Check body/chassis for excess corrosion and chassis is free from extensive structural repairs
  • Check exhaust system for security and ensure free from gas leakage/excess corrosion
  • Visual check of steering rack for leakage/mountings and test for any excess free-play
  • Visual check of steering rods, joints and gaiters for excess component free-play/leakage
  • Braking system – visual check component condition, leakage and test for any excess component free-play
  • Suspension (front) – visual check component condition, leakage and test for any excess component free-play
  • Suspension (rear) – visual check component condition, leakage and test for any excess component free-play
  • Gearbox – visual check for leakage, linkages,mounting condition and backlash
  • Final drive – visual check for security excess free-play and any leakage
  • Prop shaft – check for security and excess free play
  • Check underside for any evidence of fluid/fuel leakage
  • Check underside pipes/hoses for condition
  • Check all previous structural body repairs/accident damage has been repaired satisfactorily
  • Check body panel/alignment
  • Check all locking systems operate correctly
  • Check road wheels are free from visual damage, i.e. kerb damage (including wheel rims)
  • Check tyres meet legal requirements and have minimum tread depths of 2mm
  • Check jack and wheel brace present and intact
  • Check windshield and other glass for damage, i.e. chips and excessive scratches
  • Check visible areas of wiring for damage and security
  • Check lights and indicators for operation, security and damage
  • Check windscreen washers, wiper motors and wiper blades
  • Check horn
  • Check in-car entertainment – radio, tape, CD
  • Check seat belts for condition and security
  • Check dashboard warning lights for correct operation
  • Check window and exterior mirror operations
  • Check heater/air conditioning operation
  • Check seat adjusters
  • Check seat security/mountings
  • Check general equipment, i.e. cigar lighter, gauges and sun visor etc.
  • Check ease of engine starting and that the starter motor performs as expected when starting the engine
  • Conduct Road Test:
    • Check footbrake action for correct operation to ensure free from excess travel etc.
    • Check handbrake action for correct operation to ensure free from excess travel etc.
    • Check clutch and accelerator operation and pedal position
    • Check clutch operation to ensure free from slip, drag, judder
    • Check transmission for correct operation and gear selection
    • Check engine performance
    • Check for excess engine noise
    • Check for excess smoke emissions from exhaust
    • Check instruments and controls for correct operation
    • Check for evidence of overheating
    • Check steering wheel alignment
    • Check general handling stability
    • Check footbrake and handbrake performance
    • Check hot restarting
    • Check for oil and fluid leaks under bonnet after road tests
